Who this covers

This policy applies to this website and the pages served under it. It describes how we handle information about you — the person using the site. It does not describe the data-center records the product publishes; those are drawn from the public record and are covered under Terms of Service.

What we collect

Account information

If you create an account, our authentication provider stores your email address, your name if you supply one, and your sign-in credentials. We never see or store your password. If you sign in with a third-party identity provider, we receive only the profile fields that provider releases.

Subscription and payment

Paid plans are billed through our authentication and billing provider. We never receive, process or store your card number. What reaches us is limited to your plan, its status, and the dates it starts, renews or ends.

Alert preferences

If you turn on email alerts, we store which saved views you have subscribed to and a marker of the last alert sent to you, so the same item is not sent twice. This is kept with your account record. It is not merged into the published data-center record.

Technical information

Our servers log the ordinary technical details of a web request — IP address, browser user-agent, the path requested, response status, timing and a per-request identifier. We use these to operate the service, enforce rate limits, diagnose faults and defend against automated abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you.

Anti-automation challenge

Anonymous visitors may be asked to clear a bot challenge. When you pass it we set a signed cookie that carries only an expiry time — no identifier, no account link, nothing that describes you. Its single job is to stop us asking again for a while.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
• We do not run advertising trackers, retargeting pixels or third-party behavioural analytics.
• We do not build profiles of your reading for advertising, and we do not share your activity with data brokers.
• We do not ask for information we have no use for — there is no demographic questionnaire and no phone number field.

Cookies

We set two kinds of cookie, both strictly functional:

Session cookie

Set by our authentication provider when you sign in, so the site knows who you are between pages. It is scoped to our domain and shared across the products we run on it, which is why one sign-in works across them.

Challenge cookie

Set after you clear the bot challenge described above. Carries an expiry and nothing else.

We do not set advertising or analytics cookies. Our network provider may set its own cookies to route traffic and block attacks; those are operational and are governed by that provider's policy.

Email we send

We send two kinds of email: messages about your account or subscription, and the alert digests you have explicitly turned on. Alerts are delivered through a third-party delivery provider that receives your address for that purpose alone. You can turn alerts off at any time from the feed, and unsubscribing never requires an active subscription — a lapsed account can always switch them off.

Error monitoring

We use an error-monitoring service to catch faults in production. It is deliberately configured not to capture personal information: cookies, form contents and user-supplied fields are excluded from reports. It receives stack traces and a sample of performance timings.

How long we keep things

Account and subscription records are kept while your account is open, and for a limited period afterwards where we need them to meet tax, accounting or legal obligations. Operational logs are kept on a short rolling window sized for security investigation and then discarded. Delete your account and the associated account record goes with it.

Your choices

• See or correct your information — from your account settings, reachable at /account.
• Turn off alerts — from the feed, at any time.
• Delete your account — from your account settings, or by writing to us.
• Ask what we hold — write to us and we will tell you.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your personal information, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and objecting to certain processing. We honour these requests regardless of where you live. Write to [email protected] and we will respond.

Where your information is handled

We operate from the United States, and our providers may process information there and in other countries. Where information is transferred out of your region, we rely on our providers' standard contractual protections.

Children

This is a professional research product and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and move the effective date at the top. Material changes will be announced to account holders by email.
